flickr_orb_logos Flickr Video? + Rant.So today was the launch of video on Flickr. I’m kinda excited to see how the community responses to this new addition. I personally think its great and welcome it with open arms! See, my background is in Film & TV production. By choice I decided to become a photographer full time for almost 7 years now. I love Flickr, it’s the only photo sharing site I have ever paid for.

From the videos I’ve watched the quality is damn good. I’m looking forward to seeing my “Geek Peeps” start using the service. I myself have yet to post a single video on the internet. Which is funny since I have accounts at almost every video sharing site with 0 videos on all of them. That however will change very soon, this site was going to be for a video podcast about taking pictures. However, now it’s going to just be my own personal blog till I find funding for the show, I’ll get to that later.

I found my self wanting to break the little consumer grade plastic pieces of…. But, I didn’t cause well they weren’t mine. So instead of going out and buying a nice new Mark3, I’ll be getting the new Canon Vixia HF10 HD flash based camcorder to jump start my Video Podcasting Career.

Now that Flickr has video it just reinforced my decision to go head and get the HD camcorder instead of the still camera. My still photography is becoming more of a calculated art form for me instead of a quick snap sort of thing. Video on the web is growing by leaps and bounds, while it’s just at the beginning it isn’t calling for movie type cameras to make a popular video on succeed.

And finally, most of my elaborate ideas focus around one single perfect image and the video of its creation. That being the case I would much rather rent the best still camera gear and buy the camcorder. It’s cheaper and better suited for me. So from this day-forth, I’ll be know as the Camera-Less Photographer…
