Oh Miley Fans.

So, I’ve taken a look at my flickr stats today. I’ve noticed that the most popular photo on my flickr account is the one done by Anne Lebovitz for Vanity Fair. You know the photo of young Miley “Topless, albeit with her chest covered.“

I’ve been thinking what to do with this… and all the incoming links I get to my flickr account come from this photo. Go to yahoo.com and do and image search for “Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair” and click on the first photo… that will lead you to my flickr account. I got yesterday a total of 500 views from this search.

Give me some ideas on what I should do with this. Should I change the photo to one of my own to gain a little bit of exposure to my own work? Should I just leave it be? Should I remove it complete from my flickr?

Tell me what do you think?

mileycyrus-vanity-150x150 The Photograph of Miley Cyrus by Annie Leibovitz is Artistic!I’m a fan of Annie Leibovitz photographs. I’ve been debating if I should write about this topic. I realized that this is something important to the Photography Community as a whole and I should speak out on this.

The subject is the recent photograph by Annie Leibovitz for the June issue of Vanity Fair. The photo in question is that of Miley Cyrus daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus. She mostly know for the Hannah Montana Disney TV series. This story peaked my interest with a New York Times article. Quote from the New York Times:

Disney Channel spokesperson says: “Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.”

Hogwash! I’ve seen the behind the scenes video and candid photos from the shoot. All of which show at no time any trickery or manipulation of Miley. (more…)
